The Secret of Being Interested instead of Interesting
By Catherine Lussier
I guess, like most of the girls I met in Tulum, that I was also “called” to the retreat. It’s hard to describe, but the feeling I had when I first read about it and then when I wondered if I could afford it, that feeling, that voice was loud and clear… I needed and wanted to be there. Where that voice came from I still don’t know, but i listened to it and booked the trip.
When I Am Patient, My Light Shines Stronger
I seem to be making life changing decisions quite often these days, and joining all those amazing women at the retreat was one of them, I know it.
The fruit of what was sewn in my soul over there isn’t quite yet ripe. The retreat was like soaking the seeds that have been dormant for a long time if you want, and now they are germinating… I still need to clear some cobwebs though, to let the light shine stronger, so that my sprouts can continue to grow into a brand new vast and delicious forest full of life and love and joy.
It is a process though, and I must be patient. I am patient.
The Path to Authenticity Can Be a Bumpy One
Some years ago you see, I muffled my inner voice and I made some decisions in my life that sent me on a path I no longer wished to follow. This was not a path of authenticity. It was a path I thought I was supposed to follow – because of things I’d been taught by people around me, by “society”.
It did NOT turn out to be a shortcut, no; but a lesson? YES. It feels now, as if I am bushwhacking my way through some nasty terrain to get back to my original path, the one I was born to walk.
It’s pretty crazy at times, and painful. I am having to make some seriously unconventional decisions, but I always seem to find the right people along the way that understand me and encourage me continue.
Dare to Make Unconventional Decisions
That’s what the Tulum retreat taught me; to dare to make those unconventional decisions, and stand by them, and never ever betray my inner voice again. The retreat taught me to question everything.
It taught me that by being interested, instead of interesting, life brings you all the teachers you need, exactly when you need them. The retreat also taught me to control my thoughts, not only about myself, but about others as well. We can choose to see the best in everyone we meet.
We can choose to think happy, joyful, loving thoughts. We can choose Love above all else. And since I believe creation is a result of the collective thought – than I refuse to be responsible for any darkness, pain, or suffering.
Imagine a perfect world. Dream it, see it, feel it, smell it, taste it, and it will start to take shape. Expect ups and downs. But never ever give up.
